In February 2012, Nicolas Jaar performed a five-hour, improvised, audio-visual work entitled From Scratch at MoMA PS.1 in New York. His most ambitious and experimental project to date, we are excited to announce at this time that Jaar will reprise From Scratch for the first time since its premiere at the MoMA.
Jaar’s long time collaborator Will Epstein will be on hand for this performance, as well as DARKSIDE’s Dave Harrington; while the Boulder-based performance collective Language of Fish will complete the ensemble. Check out this video from Pitchfork’s +1 series to get a taste of what to expect from the CMKY edition of From Scratch, hosted at the new & innovative Etown Hall on 16th & Spruce.
In addition to From Scratch, we are pleased to announce Kitty Crimes & Yo Soy Sauce, presenting a special live collaboration that brings together some of Denver’s most talented producers and emcees for a raucous performance, blurring the boundaries between juke, ghetto funk and hip hop.
Philadelphia multimedia arts collective Data Garden has also been added to the program for CMKY 2013. Their interactive installation is designed to explore the heritage of electronic art via charting the connections between biological and digital technologies as a conduit for human expression.
