Communikey chatted with our friends from Studiofeed in Toronto about their groundbreaking and brand new invention, The SubPac. The device is making waves with producers around the world, and we want to spread the word. These folks will be with us on Communikey Festival next week, come meet them and try out The SubPac for yourself!

CMKY:
What inspired you to create SubPac?

SUBPAC:
Witnessing a Kenny Ken set at a warehouse party in 1998 – feeling that music changed my life. Low frequencies carry a lot of the energy in Music. Feeling these low frequencies (like we sometimes do in a club/concerts/festival environment) is an important part of the Music experience. The SubPac delivers that important experience anytime you want it.

CMKY:
What is the relationship between SubPac and your first company, StudioFeed?

SUBPAC:
StudioFeed is our main organization with two arms: media and technology. Our media is focused on film, online radio and an event – Sound in Motion. SubPac is our (StudioFeed’s) first technology.

CMKY:
Who is already excited about SubPac?

SUBPAC:
Some of the most respected cats on the planet – including Kode 9, Gilles Peterson, Flying Lotus among others. We are really excited to see the reaction of those we have introduced it to. To see their eyes light up when we activate the SubPac is special.

CMKY:
Who needs SubPac and why?

SUBPAC:
If you are a producer/dj you need one. SubPac allows you to monitor low frequencies at any hour of the day/night, it allows you to more accurately balance sub/bass/kick/other low frequencies, and also saves your hearing. If you enjoy music (or any audio with low frequencies), you need one. The music just comes alive, there is not much more to say – perhaps borrowing a line from Kode 9 “You really miss it when it’s gone”.

CMKY:
Where can people find SubPac at Communikey Festival and what will you be doing there?

SUBPAC:
We will be at the registration center (HQ), at the SUPERCOLLIDER and in some artist green rooms. Come by and try it for yourself – we think you’ll be converted….
